What are the the top 10 most expensive cars in the modern world of today? Well, I’ve seen this particular question pop up numerous times before. I’ll try to compile a list of 10 (12 actually since 4 of these cars had the same price..) super expensive cars you can buy (or just dream of buying) today. I might have to rename the topic to top 15 most expensive cars... I’ll start from the least expensive car first. Read on!
10. Koenigsegg CCX
The Koenigsegg CCX in essence is an updated version of the successful CC/CCR models. The main aim of developing this car, according to Swedish auto maker Koenigsegg, is to allow their company to penetrate the world market, particularly the United States. The CCX, which first appeared during the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, is so named because this is an acronym that stands for Competition Coupe X, with the X marking the 10 years since the first CC car was developed in 1996.But the X could have stood for another word: extreme.

6. Koenigsegg Agera R
The Agera R can burn 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, reaching a maximum speed of 260 mph. It has the parts to reach 270 mph, but the supercar is electronically capped at 235 mph. With the completion of certain paperwork, the company will unlock the speed limit for one occasion. Just how fast is this exotic two-door hyper-machine? Well, suffice it to say that the Agera R is hot on the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport’s tail clocking in at a blisteringly fast 0-168 mph in just 14.53 seconds.

4. Lamborghini Reventon
The most powerful and the most expensive Lamborghini ever built is the third on the list. It takes 3.3 seconds to reach 60 mph and it has a top speed of 211 mph. Its rarity (limited to 20) and slick design are the reasons why it is so expensive and costly to own. The Reventon is a car that has extreme characteristics that production is limited. The specifications of the car has taken its base from the Murciélago LP640, a classic supercar, and improved on its characteristics and designs. Its manufacturer made only 20 pieces of this car which sold at 1 million euro each.

3. Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster
One of the most exotic cars out there is also one of the most expensive. It can go from 0-60 in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 217 mph. Pagani, the Italian super car that relies on Mercedes Benz' power plant manufacturing has recently released another brand new roadster Zonda R version. The introduction of the Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster to the market is well-received, and similar to its coupe sister, Pagani only produced 5 units and was sold at a 1.3 million Euro price tag ($1.85 million). It is also patterned after the Modenese Atelier.

This is by far the most expensive street legal car available on the market today. It is the fastest accelerating car reaching 0-60 in 2.5 seconds. It is also the fastest street legal car when tested again on July 10, 2010 with the 2010 Super Sport Version reaching a top speed of 267 mph. When competing against the Bugatti Veyron, you better be prepared!

The name "One-77" says it all: beauty and power in One, limited to 77 units. With 750 hp, it is able to travel from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and reaching a maximum speed of 220 mph. The rare Aston Martin One-77made its first appearance at the lovely Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in North America. This supercar is also constructed to have a stunning exterior design and to deliver a powerful performance just like any other Aston Martin cars. This Aston Martin model is made with a combination of the advanced technology to capture the eyes of the prospective buyers. The production of Aston Martin One-77 is only limited because it is expected that few can afford this expensive car.
